Allplastics fabricates acrylic displays for the National Gallery of Australia (N.G.A)
The National Gallery of Australia (N.G.A) is showcasing a sumptuous exhibition in Canberra, the “Treasures from the Palace” exhibition is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see and experience here in Australia an incredible period of French history. For the first time ever, more than 130 paintings, intricate tapestries, gilded furniture items, monumental statues and other objects from the royal gardens are on display, as well as personal items from Louis XIV to Marie Antoinette, bringing to life
the reigns of three Kings, their Queens and mistresses, in a fascinating journey through a tumultuous period of French history.
Allplastics was approached by the NGA to fabricate clear acrylic showcase covers designed to protect the valuable painting and artifacts from being touched or damaged. Some of the Plexiglas showcases were up to 2m x 1.5 m x 800mm tall in 8mm and 10mm thick. These had to be fabricated with minimum glue marks and joined to withstand handling on site.
“The Allplastics team managed to fabricate extremely high quality displays within a short deadline” commented Daryl West Moore the consultant Exhibition designer “the relatively large displays were expertly packed in to crates and transported from Sydney to Canberra”
The Acrylic displays are a display in the NGA (along the more valuable items they are protecting! ) until the 17th April.
It is definitely an exhibition not to be missed!
